The junior staff cadre of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), has expressed confidence in the capacity of the newly appointed Managing Director, Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho to deliver in his assignment at the apex Maritime agency
Congratulating the NPA boss, Comrade Ifeanyi Mazeli, President, NPA branch of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria MWUN said that the new MD had what it takes to turn around the fortunes of the agency
Recall that President Bola Tinubu on Friday, approved the appointment of Dr. Abubakar Dantsoho as the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA).
Dr. Dantsoho holds a Doctorate Degree in Maritime Technology from Liverpool John Moores University, United Kingdom, and a Master’s Degree in International Transport from Cardiff University of Wales, United Kingdom.
Before his appointment, he had served in various capacities in the agency as Assistant General Manager; Technical Assistant to the Managing Director; Port Manager, Onne Port; and Principal Manager, Tariff & Billing.
Comrade Mazeli quipped that as someone that is coming from within the organisation, a lot .more is expected of him because he knows the challenges of the Authority.
He stated further that “We hope that he hits the ground running .because his wealth of experience as an insider, will enable him perform effectively.”
He appreciated President Bola Tinubu for choosing somebody within the organization which he said, had not happened for a while.
Comrade Mazeli, while appreciating the President General of MWUN for having congratulated the new MD, added that it has become necessary that the branch added it voice as direct staff of the organisation.
According to him, the immediate past MD, Mohammed Bello-Koko has done his bots even as he wished him the best in his future endeavours
“We thank the immediate past MD for his contributions to the industry and development of NPA,” he submitted.
