World Tree Planting Day: Lagos Health District IV, Surulere LG launch Green Initiative 

 

In commemoration of World Tree Planting Day on July 14th, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Health District IV Dr. Abimbola Bowale and the Executive Chairman of Surulere Local Government, represented by the Vice Chairman Hon. Dosunmu Adewale have launched the Green Initiative at Shitta Nursery and Primary School, Surulere.

The theme of this year’s celebration is Tree for Lagos, Our City, Our Responsibility

The tree planting is designed to make the open spaces strategic green landscaping, tree planting, and a modern beautification. It forms part of the Surulere Local Government’s commitment to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and improved quality of life for the pupils.

 

Speaking at the event Dosunmu Adewale stated that Surulere was one of the gateways to Nigeria’s economy.

 

His 19rds, “As we drive commerce, we must also protect our environment. This tree Planting initiative will restore green cover, reduce flooding, and create cleaner, healthier spaces for our community as well.”

 

The chairman Hon. Bamidele Yusuf called on all stakeholders to support the tree planting programme, noting that the initiative will make Surulere a greener environment that everyone benefits, schools, residents, businesses, and future generations.
