Viral video: Christian Council demands arrest of El-Rufai over fundamentalist statement
The Christian Council of Nigeria (CCN) has condemned in strongest terms the recent inciting and fundamentalist comments attributed to the immediate past Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.
In a release signed by the CCN President, His Grace, the Most Reverend David Onuoha, regretted that the Directorate of State Services (DSS) and other law enforcement agencies have not called the former governor for questioning over the inflammatory statement, till this time.
The prelate expressed his unbelief over such utterances coming from El-Rufai, a former minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) wherein he classified the citizens of Kaduna state into them ‘versus us’ which implies he has clarification to give for the murder of innocent citizens in the state.
The priest believes that El-Rufai has to explain his role in masterminding the insecurity, demolition of houses and places of worship of Christians in Kaduna and other savageries that have brought this nation to its knees.
“We are worried that ever since, the security operatives have allowed this self confessed enemy of mankind to be roaming around freely,” he said.
Archbishop Onuoha who is the Archbishop of the Owerri Ecclesiastes Province of the Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion stressed that the viral video containing the speech of El-Rufai concerning the victory of Bola Tinubu as having silenced the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), and his purported plans to sustain an Islamic-dominated government for 20 years not ending not only in Kaduna State but in Nigeria at large, may not be far from the mind of the government of the day until proven otherwise.
The prelate said, “If he is not saying the mind of this administration on Muslim/Muslim ticket, then the President should deliberately ensure that the leadership of the National Assembly, both the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, go to Christians.”
He stated that it might not be out of place to say that, “El-Rufai should be banned from holding public office again since he is all out to use such office or position to promote fundamentalism, bigotry, insurgency, insecurity, and threat to peace and national cohesion.
“The present administration in Nigeria should not turn blind eyes and give deaf ears to danger such careless outbursts by El-Fufai and his co travelers on this inhuman voyage pose to the unity and stability of this nation. It is absolutely necessary to stop him now,” he submitted.
