Ramadan: OAPU President, Prof Farinde calls on Muslims to remember poor, deprived.
The National President, Otan Ayegbaju Progressive Union (OAPU), Professor Jimoh Akinloye Farinde has called on all Otan Ayegbaju Muslims faithfuls worldwide to use the Ramadan period to care for the poor and marginalized in the society.
The President made the call while joining the Owa of Otan Ayegbaju, Oba Lukman Adesola Fadipe and all Muslims faithfuls in Otan Ayegbaju and diaspora in welcoming the month of Ramadan.
This is contained in a release signed by the Public Relations Officer of OAPU, High Chief Olu Akindele on Saturday.
In the message, Prof Farinde stated that the period offered opportunity for the Muslims to feel the hunger experienced by the poor so as to feel what it is like to be deprived and marginalized.
The OAPU President emphasized the need to seek greater personal discipline, which according to him, is necessary for the realization of a great Town.
He advised Muslim elites against food wastage and extravagant spending while others face hunger and destitution, urging that they should care for their neighbours, the poor and the marginalized.
While wishing all Muslims a successful completion of the 30-day fasting, he called for prayers for peace in the ancient town.
