Irish seafarer who lost 2 fingers in horror accident, seeks justice
A seafarer with Irish migrant fishing vessel who lost two fingers in a horror accident seeks justice.
A migrant fisher, Adel who lost two fingers in a bloody workplace accident onboard an Irish fishing trawler wants justice after the Irish rights inaction over the plight if the seafarer.
International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) stated that government insensitivity to the seafarer’s case amounts tot he fact that migrant fishers are living in shadows.
“Government inaction means Adel and dozens of other migrant fishers are working and living in the shadows, being denied access to the rights, conditions and benefits of any other workers in Ireland.
“Without workplace rights, fishers like Adel can be more easily pressured by vessel owners to work long, unsustainable – and unsafe hours.
“Adel is standing up for justice with the ITF,” the internation workers body reveals.
