Peter Esene emerges Chairman, Lagos State Jubilee Estate, Ikorodu; promises inclusive government.

...says, "Time is set for work and we won't fail our esteemed residents."

Mr. Peter Esene on Saturday, promised value addition, inclusive government after emerging as the Chairman, Ayangburen Jubilee Housing Estate, Ikorodu in a keenly contested election.

The estate is one of the Lagos State government-owned estates in the state.

In a statement by the Media Adviser to the Estate Chairman, Alh. Bashir Ambi, the election which was said to be free and fair, saw the emergence of Esene as the 7th Chairman of the Estate.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Esene, who is a Member, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR) thanked all the residents for the confidence reposed in him and assured them that his regime would not disappoint them.

His words, “Time is set for work and we won’t fail our esteemed residents. As we begin a new chapter, we appeal for stakeholders cooperations as we take giant strides in rebuilding our estate.

“Our word is that there is no victor and there is no vanquished. The victory is for all the residents and not for us.we don’t have any winner. It is a family affair where we have all come out to elect few of us to manage the affairs of the estate.”

Announcing the election results, the Chairman, Caretaker /Electoral Committee stated that 5 persons were returned unopposed. He announced the results as follows: Mr. Peter Esene emerged chairman having polled 166 votes to defeat his only opponent, Iskil Kuye who polled 106 votes.

Alhaji O. Sulaimon became the Vice Chairman unopposed. Ovunba A. Aderonke emerged the Secretary with 149 votes while her contender, Mr. Richard Nakireru had 114 votes.

Adegoke Emmanuel having polled 169 votes as against 94 by his opponent, Alh. Musbau Okeowo, the immediate past Treasurer, emerged the new Treasurer.

In a similar vein, Majaro O. Ismail defeated the immediate past Auditor of the Estate, Adekunle Adewale Adebare to become the new Auditor.

Others are; Belewu I. Ojuolape who was voted in as Social Secretary to defeat the immediate past Social Secretary, Bosede Jacobs.

According to the Chairman/Caretaker/Electoral Committee, Alh. Saheed Ayedun Ishola, the offices of the Financial Secretary was clinched by Adeyinka A. Ajibade, Welfare Secretary by George O. Orlu, Assistant Secretary by Olaniyi O. Moses and the Estate Public Relations Officer by Animashaun M. Segun, all unopposed.

Bashir Ambi added in the statement that the process was thorough as candidates were screened even as the electoral body ensured that contestants were no defaulting in the Estate’s statutory dues.

“In the history of this Estate, this is the first time an election has recorded massive electorates.

“Amazingly, even during the manifesto night, residents defied the downpour to listen to the promises of aspirants, an exercise that lasted for over 5 hours from 8PM. The Caretaker/ Electoral Committee have exhibited high sense of commitment and sacrifice towards the election.”

Earlier, the CDC Chairman in Ikorodu, Prince Niran Ogunbanwo, who equally represented the state government to supervise the hitch-free conduct of the CDA elections in Jubilee, appreciated the commitment of the Caretaker/Electoral Committee.

“He urged the elected officers to operate based on the guidelines enshrined in the CDA Constitution even as he wished them well.

“The defeated Chairmanship aspirant Arch. Iskil gladly exhibited maturity and one love by posting the following message on the Estate Platform.

“Dear Peter Esene, congratulations on your victory at the just concluded CDA election of our dear estate. Winning an election is no small feat. Congratulations to you and your team. U indeed took the ballot baskets home… be rest assured of my continual support in harnessing the peace and development of the estate. I pray for Almighty God’s continuous guidance in fulfilling the purpose for which you’ve been elected. Congratulations once again and do enjoy the victory!”

Peter Esene is the 7th Chairman of the estate built for over two and half decades ago by past governors of Lagos State; Gen. Buba Marwa (Phase 1) and President Bola Tinubu (2nd phase).

Esene was the former Welfare Secretary of the Estate for 2-term, he later served as the General Secretary for another 2-term. He was an Ex-officio in the immediate past administration of the Estate.
