The Touch of Love Foundation has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Assembly to institute policies programs, health insurance scheme and welfare packages that would be of great benefits to the aged and vulnerable widows in the country.
The Founder and CEO, Engr. (Hon) Atinuke Wuraola Owolabi made this call in Lagos at the lleya feast held for aged and vulnerable widows in lju lshaga and its environs.
According to her, the present administration whose agenda is renewed hope, should try to consider the aged and vulnerable widows first in the country when introducing the governance policies, which they have prepared for Nigerians.
Engr. Owolabi went further to state that the senior citizens who had contributed immensely to national development when they were younger needs care, love and support from every individual, noting that when given the necessary attention and support would make them believe that their efforts to national unity was never in vain.
“It gives me joy whenever l assist the aged and vulnerable widows in my constituents, I don’t like seeing people feeling depressed especially the old people because they need our attention, care and love at this stage of their lives.
“For this reason the foundation is set up to cater for the aged and widows who have displaced for years, who don’t have anyone to care for them, this foundation is aimed at receiving the burdens of the widows and the aged mothers,” she stated.
The philanthropist and entrepreneur who reiterated her commitment over the years to the betterment of the aged and vulnerable widows in her constituents, urged the National Assembly to enact a law that would ensure that the country’s aged and widows are empowered, protected and well being maintained.
She opined that policies like health insurance scheme, recreation homes and dedicated hospitals should be provided for the aged people between 65-85 years of age.
She appealed to the president whom she said that she is still learning from his school of politics, to help the needy by providing empowerment scheme for the vulnerable widows.
One of the beneficiaries, Prophetess Agnes Olowookere described Engr. Atinuke as a rare gem whose philanthropic gesture has earned her respect and love from the people of lju lshaga, noting that she has touched and impacted so many people especially the aged mothers and widows in the area through her empowerment program.
She urged the convener not to relent in her effort in assisting the less privilege,youths women and aged people, while praying to God for divine wisdom and guidance upon her life.
In a similar vein, Mrs Gbemisola calls her” Dorcas” of their time who has used her foundation over the years to assist the youths, women, aged people,less privilege and those in need, stating that she is always wanting to do more, while praying for God to continue the bless the foundation and the founder.
Highlight of the event was presentation of food pack,wrappers and cash to the aged mothers and vulnerable widows as the atmosphere was filled with joy as the people danced with excitement.
