The Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association NMNOWTSSA has congratulated Comrade Erazua Oniha on his confirmation as the substantive Secretary General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria MWUN
The Secretary General who was confirmed on Friday at the joint session of both the National Administrative Council (NAC) and the Central Working Committee (CWC) of the Maritime apex union.
Oniha was confirmed after six months in acting capacity at the position.
In a statement by Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN, Olangwe Dagogo and Joseph Ekwere also emerged as the General Secretaries of both the Seamen and NPA branches.
Comrade Oniha took over from Comrade Felix Akingboye who recently retired after years of service as the scribe of MWUN.
Congratulating him on his emergence as the scribe of the union, Merchant Navy in a latter addressed to the SG, felicitated with him
In the latter signed by Comrade, elder ALEAKHUE John Okpono, Secretary General, NMNOWTSSA, the National President, High Chief Bob Yousuo while congratulating him, described him as a round peg in a round hole saying, “Your experience speaks volumes to the confirmation of your position as the secretary general.
The letter further stated that “Comrade Oniha is a discipline fellow who takes no for an answer. He is an achiever. A man that believes in team work. Punctuality is his watch-word.
“With his more than 3 decades of unionism experience, confirming him as secretary general of MWUN, is one of the best that has happened to the NLC affiliate union.
“With comrade Oniha at the head of administration in MWUN as a born coordinator/team player, courageous and selfless individual, the Union will witness tremendous and unspeakable growth.
“We stand with him and promise to give our unwavering support to better the maritime industry.
“Once again, NMNOWTSSA congratulates you and wish you hitch free tenure as secretary general of MWUN.
Keep the flag flying,” it concluded.
