Shippers' Council fail to strike balance in MWUN, Shipping companies meeting,; set up committee.
The meeting convened by the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) to resolve the ongoing trade dispute between the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN) and Shipping Association of Nigeria, recently, was inconclusive as no agreement was reached
The meeting has been rescheduled for an unknown date.
A committee comprising the three parties have been constituted to take up the discussion from where it stopped yesterday.
Recall that the union had issued a two week uktimat.against the shipping companies for refusals to negotiate the welfare package of its members in the sector.
In order strengthen ties and forge ahead: Nigerian Shippers’ Council had appealed to the union to set aside the ultimatum so that it could mediate in the matter.
But at the meeting which held at Shippers’ Council head office in Lagos, bothe parties could not reach any agreement but have set up a committee to help resolve the lingering imbroglio.
An insider at the meeting told our correspondent that, “They have not concluded. A committee has been set up and will meet again. Thank you and have a great day.”
