MWUN mourns as APMT unit chairman dies in accident

 

 

The Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN) has announced the death of one of its unit executive members, Comrade Elegbede David, who was involved in a ghastly motor accident that claimed his life along Oshodi-Mile 2 Express way, on May 4, 2024.

Comrade John Kennedy Ikemefuna, Head of Media, MWUN stated 5his in a press release on Monday.

Until hos death, he was the union’s Unit Chairman at APMT. He has been described by APMT management as a worker committed to hardwork with total zeal for diligence at workplace.

He is also said to be one with sterling quality leadership attributes as a Unionist, which brought a lot of positive influences on members of the Union, and workers of APMT.

Comrade Elegbede started work at APMT in 2007 as a Crane Operator and had been a well cultured member of the Union and a dedicated Dockworker staff of APMT.

The President-General of MWUN, Comrade Dr. Adewale Adeyanju, and the Executives and members of the Union have been deeply grieved over the death of Elegbede, the statement read.

Dr. Adeyanju, who in his absolute disbelief of the death of Elegbede said that the loss of the Union’s Dockworker was painful and it’s still difficult to imagine as Comrade Elegbede was such a brilliant and and intelligent Union leader whose qualities cannot be overemphasized.

May the Almighty God grant him eternal rest in peace and also grant APMT management, his immediate family and colleagues the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, the union boss prayed.
