NAGAFF compliance team lauds DCG T&T, Niagwan for untiring efforts in trade facilitation.
The 100% Compliance Team of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has expressed their unflinching support to the Deputy Comptroller General (DCG,) Tariffs and Trade, Nigeria Customs Service, Caroline Niagwan for her untiring efforts in trade facilitation.
The National Coordinator of the 100% Compliance Team, Alhaji (Dr) Ibrahim Tanko who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday pledged to continue to offer her all necessary assistance and cooperation, while urging her not to be discouraged .
“We take note of her quick attention to our complaints and fast resolution.
Those on the fast lane may not appreciate her,but we know that her approach is most beneficial to the industry.
“We make this public show of support in view of the clandestine moves by some companies to take over customs duties of revenue collection on behalf of the federal government.”.
According to Tanko, “Rumours have it that they have promised surpassing the yearly targets given the service by as much as three hundred percent in the first year, and increasing same subsequently. We say no to that clandestine move”.
The 100% Compliance Team Coordinator posited the present management of customs is well equipped to manage revenue collection, considering the innovations and measures put in place presently, anchored in the tariffs and trade unit, ably led by DCG Niagwan.
“We,on the field can testify to the increased revenue accruing to the federal government since the new management took over..”
“Lest we forget; this road had been travelled before with PIDA.
“The sour taste had lingered up till now.
The attendant delays, arising out of ignorance of customs procedures and processes caused a lot of disquiet back then. Officers morale were dampened and their professional integrity compromised.”
“We therefore reject the idea and wish the DCG well in her efforts at improving the revenue collection task of the Nigerian customs service..” Tanko stated.
