MWUN boss, Comrade Adeyanju bags international Honourary Doctorate Award
The Chartered Institute of Public Resources Management and Politics (CIPRMP) Ghana, on Monday, awarded the President General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Adewale Adeyanju with a honourary Doctorate Degree.
The institute which said it had been following the activities of the union leader since 2002 when Adeyanju was the Treasurer of the union, added that his transparency and accounting was unprecedented.
Speaking, Dr Richard Aquarte, the Executive Director, West Africa Region, of the institute, added that Adeyanju was recognised for his exceptional personality and his laudable achievements as leader of the union.
Dr. Aquarte noted that the MWUN boss is unique in his leadership style even as he noted that no leader had made so much agitations for the welfare of maritime workers as Adeyanju had made within his five years as PG of the union.
“Adewale is a notable and very resourceful maritime personality of note.
“This institute has come to recognise an exceptional and laudable personality in the maritime sector. He is a laudable leader with expertise
“There has never been a.leadership that have made great agitations for the welfare of the members of the union.
“We commend your leadership quality, we commend your technocracy, we commend your vision and wisdom,” he said.
Earlier, the PG in his welcome remark, who expressed delight about the award, said he dedicated the award to all maritime stakeholders including terminal operators, shipping agencies, among others.
According to him, the award would spur them to perform better in their activities even as he appreciated the workers and executives for their supports and loyalty
He added that his effort wouldn’t have been noted or acknowledged by international bodies if the subordinates had not lent their hands of fellowship and comraderie.
Also speaking, Vice President General Funmi Fasan said the award to the union boss was deserving
Recounting her experience, she expressed happiness for being part of the Adeyanju team that is doing what nobody had expected that the administration could do.
She said as a result of the hard work and many achievements of the Adeyanju-led executives, many groups would still come up to give awards to the PG
She appreciated all the national, branch, districts and units executives for standing behind the leadership of the union to attain its present height.
