MOWCA Highlights Importance of Climate Prediction for Maritime Safety

The Maritime Organization of West and Central Africa (MOWCA) has emphasized the crucial role of climate prediction in ensuring safe navigation in the region.
MOWCA commended the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) for its timely and accurate weather forecasts, which have significantly contributed to safe navigation and reduced the risk of maritime accidents.
The organization recognized the importance of climate prediction in supporting maritime safety, efficient navigation, and environmental protection. MOWCA encouraged its member states to prioritize climate prediction and work collaboratively to enhance maritime safety in the region.
NIMET’s Director-General, Prof. Mansur Bako Matazu, appreciated MOWCA’s recognition of the agency’s efforts and reiterated NIMET’s commitment to providing accurate and timely weather forecasts to support maritime safety and economic development.
