Merchant Navy Officers greet Muslims at Sallah, demand government's welfare priority for seafarers

 

The Nigeria Merchant Navy Officers and Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNOWTSSA) has prayed for Muslim seafarers for divine blessings of Allah, calling on the most High to reward them for their sacrifices at sea.

National President of NMNOWTSSA, Comrade Bob Yousou in a message to muslim faithfuls worldwide on the Eid Mubarak celebration, prayed for Allah to give sailors treasurable moments of happiness and joy on this festive occasion.

Engr. Yousou noted “On behalf of the union, I wish the Muslim ummah the divine blessings of Allah; may it fill your home and heart with the spirit of joy, open up newer opportunities for success, and ease the suffering of all people around the world.

“As part of efforts to celebrate the Eid el Adha Mubarak, May Allah reward our sacrifices bountifully, amen.”

While wishing all Muslims a happy and peaceful Sallah celebration, the seasoned Marine Engineer stated that “To all our muslim friends, seafarers’, unionists and families, the NMNOWTSSA wishes that Allah’s blessings light up the path that will lead to happiness, peace and success.

“May Allah accept your good deeds, forgive your transgressions and sins, and ease the suffering of all people around the globe.”

Yousou called on maritime regulatory agencies to always consider the contributions of seafarers’ in world trade thus prioritize welfare packages to encourage and boost their morales.

According to him, the union will continue to engage government on how to improve on the welfare of seafarers in line with national best practices.

The merchant Navy boss used the opportunity to encourage seafarers to show love to one another.

“Accordingly, a house that is divided can not stand. To exhibit the spirit of comradeship i.e oneness.”
