The Nigeria Shipowners Association (NISA) has elected new executives to pilot the affairs of the association for the next two years.
The election which held in Lagos on Thursday, saw Otunba Sola Adewumi emerging as the new president after clinching 21 out of the 23 total votes cast.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the victory, the newly elected president pledged to resuscitate the glorious days of the shipping group.
He also.promis3d to work closely with members of the association and other relevant stakeholders in the shipping Industry.
Otunba Adewumi promised to revamp the moribund secretariat adding that the Nigerian Maritime Expo (NIMAREX) would be part of his first areas of attention before the end of the year.
He also promised to work closely with members of the association adding that all hands will be on deck to change the narratives of the shipping business in Nigeria.
According to him, he would ride on the framework of reconciliation of the caretaker committee to bring back members who have left even as he said he would extend the gesture to other maritime stakeholders so that the sector could speak in one voice.
Meanwhile, Otunba Olawale Jubril emerged unopposed as the General Secretary of the group with 20 votes.
Gbolahan Adu emerged Publicity Secretary, Mohammed Malik as Financial Secretary and Wor-Degbetuwa Sammy as Treasurer.
Also speaking, Chief Isaac Jolapomo, former President and Chairman, Board of Trustees of NISA called on the newly elected executives to work closer with members.
Jolapomo further expressed satisfaction of the election , while urging losers in the contest to support the new executives in order to help grow NISA.
