The high cost of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) also known as diesel will soon be a thing of the past across the country as the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO) has said that members are ready to deploy their trucks to distributing the product nationwide.
Speaking with journalists after a meeting with the National Executive Council (NEC) members, the National President of NARTO, Alhaji Yusuf Lawal Othman said that with the recent increase of freight rate, members would now bring out their trucks to distribute the product nationwide.
According to him, the federal government has fuel that can last for 30 days but that the issue has been distribution.
He added that now that the freight rate has been increased and it is being paid promptly, the product would now be available nationwide putting an end to the high cost.
His words, “We thank the government over the issue of increasing the freight rate and not just increasing it but making sure it is paid promptly.
“The federal government has fuel that will last for 30 days, the issue is the distribution and the distribution is hampered by high cost of diesel and with this increase of freight rate, the issue of high cost of diesel will be taken care of and spare parts of trucks will be easy
“Notwithstanding, believe that transporters will bring out their vehicles and distribute across the country irrespective of the high cost,” he stated.
