Governor Gboyega Oyetola of Osun state has been declared winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election held on Saturday, February 19, 2022 after a landslide victory across the 332 wards of the state.
Kwara state governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who served as the chairman of the primary election committee announced the result on Sunday morning at the party’s secretariat in Osogbo.
The final declaration came after summation of results from the 30 Local Government Areas results had been collated from all the wards by returning officers
Oyetola scored 222,169 votes to defeat his closest rival, the former Secretary to Osun State government, Moshood Adeoti who polled 12,921 votes
Ex-Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Lasun came distant third with 460.votes
Speaking after the elections, state chairman APC, Prince Gboyega Famodun commended the committee and the Representatives of the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC) for the successful conduct of the exercise.
