Emotions, accolades as Merchant Navy sends forth Capt Nike Akinjole

 

It was an afternoon of emotions, accolades as the Nigerian Merchant Navy Officers & Water Transport Senior Staff Association (NMNO&WTSSA) held a mini party in honour of Captain Nike Akinjole as she travels out of the country in for greener pastures.

Captain Akinjole is the Treasurer, Fishing Zonal Council, a branch of the association where she has served for many years.

Most of the speakers at the event were emotional as she was described as a humble leader, generous, kind and hard-working woman.

Comrade John Okponor, Secretary General of the association, speaking on behalf of the national executives while appreciation her efforts while in the service of the Union charged her to improve on her profession

He described her as a giver and lover of people. He added that there was nothing the Union could give her that could match her good deeds in the association.

His words, “On behalf of the national executives, especially the national president, you have done well. There is nothing we will give to you today tht can match what you have done

“You are much. The sky will is your limit. May you accomplish whatever you desire in life in Jesus name.

“On behalf of the national executives, we say thank you and you are good to go

“However, you have to improve on what you have been doing.

“She is a giver, let us emulate the spirit of giving from her. On behalf of all of us, improve on this because if you keep it up, somebody else may come to overtake you.”

Captain Wale George, Vice National President, Shipping of the Union prayed for her success as well as testifying if her generosity.

“There is no time she doesn’t give me money to bless me. I pray that all the seeds will bring you blessings”

Captain Saliu Akintayo, Chairman Shipping Zonal Council said Captain Nike one if the hard-working members of the Council”s executives.

He quipped tht her efforts will make ways for her in her endeavours in life.

“Captain Nike is a passionate, hard-working member of my exco. She is so hard-working that I wondered how she took the association

“You are just starting to reap what you have sown and anything you lay your hands shall be fruitful.

“We appreciate you, even though you are leaving, we are still with you and will always be in touch with you.

Ayo. Ohiwere ITF representative in Nigeria also described her as an efficient and hard-working lady.

“Captain Nike is a very lady, efficient and hard-working

“I wish her all she wishes herself. May you do well over there and everything you do there shall be successful.”

Roland Ekama, Publisher of Daily Focus Nigeria who has been covering the activities of the Union for over a decade also Captain Akinjole as one who is open to everybody.

“I have known her for close to sux years. She is open to all, a good friend, I know her wealth of experience will open ways for her.”

Deborah Akinwale, Women Representative in ITF said Nike had been a nice and kind member of the association saying she cried when she first heard of her relocation abroad.

“She has been kind and nice and when she first told me, I was crying. I prayed that I would be able to get some one that will be like her

“In all my journey with her, I never saw any mistake with her. As she is going, she will come back with husband and children in Jesus Name.

Jerremiah Obadiah, Assistant Secretary General, Admin said the outgoing captain was a wonderful person to members of the Union.

According to him, she was his adviser adding that he appreciated the good works she has done for the Union.

“You have been a very wonderful person to us. You have always been a good adviser to me and I also appreciate the good work you have done for merchant Navy

“Next time we meet, it shall be in good stead and happiness,” he prayed

Ifranyi Abel Chukwu, Admin/Assiatnt Secretary, Shipping Zonal Council said, “I got to meet her at our former office. She has been playing the role of mother to everybody. She is a good and nice person to be with. She loves peace. ”

Responding to the good 2ill messages, Captain Nike Akinjole said she was overwhelmed by the accolades and words of encouragement.
She promised that wherever she is, she would never forget the association.

“I am overwhelmed. When the opportunity came, I was wondering if I could leave my people here but I just had to go.

“When it became a reality, I just have to leave. I thank everyone of you. I will miss everyone of you.”
