Dala Inland Dry Port, NAGAFF Forge Partnership For Growth

In a significant development, the Dala Inland Dry Port (DIDP) has announced its collaboration with the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) to achieve remarkable milestones.
The DIDP, which was declared an Inland Dry Port by the Federal Government in August 2022, is poised to overcome challenges, and enhance its operations.
The strategic Partnership, aims to improve the business of the two organisations The DIDP recognizes NAGAFF’s expertise, and industry connections, therefore,by partnering with NAGAFF, the port aims to accelerate business volume and streamline operations.
Despite its declaration as an Inland Dry Port, the DIDP faces obstacles related to recognition by the Nigerian Customs Service. The port currently operates at a minimal level, awaiting crucial approvals.
Abubakar Sahabo Bawuro, Chairman of the DIDP, challenged NAGAFF to demonstrate its strength and commitment during their 3-day working visit. The goal is to unlock the port’s potential and drive seamless trade facilitation.
Bawuro emphasized the importance of cooperation from NAGAFF members, freight forwarders, importers, exporters, and consolidators. He stressed that their collective support will be instrumental in the port’s success
He called for official recognition of the DIDP as both a Port of Origin and Final Destination, adding that establishing a command center within the port is crucial for efficient operations.
In his response,Chief Patrick Ogbo, Chairman of NAGAFF’s Technical Group on Cargo Logistics, assured the DIDP of NAGAFF’s dedication.
Chief Ogbo assured that NAGAFF will engage with stakeholders, including importers, exporters, and trade unions, to achieve the desired variables.
He praised the DIDP’s massive size and well-equipped facilities. NAGAFF aims to achieve the port’s full potential within the specified timeframe.
Both organisations affirm that the partnership holds immense promise for the Dala Inland Dry Port, Kano, and the broader trade community. If successful, it will pave the way for other similar ventures, benefiting Nigeria’s logistics landscape
