Customs, NIMASA over 30 Customs Brokers agencies set for ANLCA Western Zone Annual Table Tennis Tournament

Nigeria Customs Service NCS), Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), over thirty Customs brokers organisations have indicated interest to participate in the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents ANLCA, Western Zone Annual Table Tennis Tournament billed to hold on 6th and 7th of December, 2024.
Briefing journalists on Tuesday, the Vice President of the foremost Customs brokers association who doubles as the Chief Host, Segun Oduntan said that many stakeholders have indicated interest in participating in the tournament which will hold at the Not Too Bad Sports Centre, Egbeda, a Lagos suburb.
He added that tournament would avail members of the association as well as other industry stakeholders the opportunity to unwind and interact adding that the forms are free of charge even as winners are to cart home a whooping N10 million prize at the end of the two days tournament.
Oduntan briefed journalists that the tournament would also bring people together to laugh and forget about any animosity they might have against one another
Explaining, he said the venue was open for both players and would-be spectators saying the hotel accommodation for the two days has been subsidised by 50 percent for lodgers.
His words, “We deem it for that in order to keep fit, ease off from work stress and as example for members to keep fit, though there are other sports like football, .basketball by we decided to take on table tennis
“The western Zone Coordinator and myself out our heads together to bring our people together and we chose the end of the year when activities are winding down
“We want to bring everybody together, the stakeholders, the people we interact with and the our professional colleagues because sports bring people together,
“The ambience will provide us with opportunity to interact, unwind and laugh together for two days which we believe is more than enough .”
On the reason for the press briefing, he stated that “”This briefing is to make people aware to come and participate, exercise and let people sit in an environment outside business environment, environment without bickering where we can enjoy together in one spirit
“The form is free, we are inviting organisations like NIMASA, NPA, Customs, Quarantine Services, Media Houses, media Association’s that can play or are lovers of tennis
“The prize for the winners is very attractive, we want you to come one, come all,” he announced.
Also speaking, the Western Zone Coordinator of ANLCA, Femi Anifowose who expressed confidence that the tourn out would be massive, added that it would be an annual event
.
According to him, the prevailing Ill health in the country is alarming hence the need for people to engage in constant exercise to keep fit and to quickly detect any iota of sickness in their bodies.
“Why we are holding this tournament is come together after months of hustling and battling to exercise because the state of health of people nowadays called for concerns hence the need to exercise to detect there you have health issue
T”his is the first of its kind in the association and we believe that a lot of people will be participating and it is going to be a continuous one by God’s grace,” he concluded
Also speaking, the proprietor of Not Too Bad Sports Centre, Mr. Mike while appreciating the organisers for choosing the sports centre for the competition, announced that table tennis players have extra nine years life span
He also assured participants of a conducive environment as well as an enjoyable tournament.

“Table tennis is a sport that provide healthy conditions for living, it is adduced that players of table tennis have additional life span of nine years , all rackets sports apart from football and other sporting activities
“ANLCA Western Zone having chosen table tennis, has a meaning. Our facility ID a sporting facility. We have our table tennis boards here
“I will like.to assure participants that they are going to have all the necessary accommodating environment to participate in this competition.”
