The Management of Advanced International Merchant Limited (AIML) on Friday paid a courtesy visit to the palace of the King of Ewusi, Makun, HRH Oba Timothy Oyesola Akinsanya, the Orungba II, Ewusi of Makun in Sagamu where he promised to provide two (2) New modern boreholes
The two boreholes which he said would be powered by solar, is part of the Corporate Social Responsiblities of the organisation to the host community
Speaking, the Managing Director of the logistics firm, Mr. Cyprian Nwankwo said it was a way of giving back to the society where he operated his business.
The MD who went to the palace with 25 cartons of indomie and 10 bags of rice as part of palliatives for the community, said the visit was to familiarise with the paramount ruler as well as to get on the project
His words, “In 2009, when we came in here, I will say we were the landlord because the place was a complete bush even the new Makun City centre came years after us
“We were not afraid, we were in our home and were not afraid to enter the bush but decided to change it to something and we have been here since liaising with the chairman
“We are Nigerians, for us we are one and I see all of you as my brothers, that’s why we are not afraid to come and do business here.
“Now, we can contribute a little to our host community as our own Corporate Social Responsibility. So, I called my people that we need to do something, I called the chairman to help us arrange to meet the oba to know him and tell him what we have in mind so that he can tell us how to go about it
“We have in mind to install two boreholes for the host community as a starting point and these boreholes will be powered by solar. We are going to put a tank which means that when the tank is full, the pump will stop and once it is getting empty, it starts pumping automatically.
“I am very happy to be here and happy to meet you, we will invite you to come and see us as our father because we need to pay respect. May God bless this community,” he prayed.
Responding, the oba while appreciating the gesture, applauded the MD for deeming it fit to establish such organisation in the country saying some other persons would have preferred foreign countries.
Oba Timothy Oyesola said, “I don’t know how to express my gratitude because you are not the only company that is around here but what you are doing now, it is only few of the companies that have done it
“On behalf of my community, I really appreciate you, God will appreciate you more. It is not surprising, East or West, home is the best. You didn’t go to Ghana or Liberia to establish, you know that Nigeria belongs to you. I pray that you don’t regret your action of coming to establish in Nigeria.
Oba Akinsanya ensured the MD that the community would not allow any encroachment of his land by community members saying he should report any of such development to the palace.
“”If since 2009, you did not encounter any problem there, I am sure you will not encounter any problem in future.
“If there is any intruder, let us know please because my people are fond of saying this land belongs to their grand father and that we have not taken our dues,” he submitted.
