Hotel Manager Arraigned Over Alleged N10 Million Theft in Lagos

A 36-year-old Hotel Manager, Rofiat Tesileem Bello, was on Thursday, 16th July, 2026, arraigned before Court 20, Ogba Magistrate Court, Lagos, on a five-count charge bothering on conspiracy, stealing by conversion, and conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace. Bello pleaded not guilty to all charges.

In a case filed as Commissioner of Police v. Rofiat Tesileem Bello ‘F’, 36 years(Charge No: MIK/F/29/2026) where Kenneth who is the Chief Executive Officer of K&J Hotel and Suites serves a a witness.,.other alleged accused persons are still at large allegedly conspired to commit theft on December 30, 2025 at about 08:45hrs at No 25, Ifelodun Street, Abuke Egba, Lagos State within the Ikeja Magisterial District.

 

The allegations came to light after management of K & J Hotel and Suites audited the company’s accounts and found that payments made by customers were not reflecting in the business’s account, but in the manager’s personal accounts.

 

In an interview conducted with the Manager and two of the other staff in the hotel, they agreed to receive payment from customers into their personal account and not the company’s account and also distributed part of it to the other two people before sending it into the hotel’s account. It started july 9th 2025 till December which was not ordered by the owner of the hotel.

 

In the interview ,Mrs Bello being the Manager then, confirmed that she was the one that imposed the act.

 

The following are the court charge against Mrs bello. Count I Conspiracy

The defendant is alleged to have conspired with others at large to commit a felony, to wit, stealing, contrary to Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

Count II Stealing by Conversion (N10,000,000)

Bello is alleged to have stolen, by conversion, the sum of N10,000,000 belonging to K & J Hotel and Suites, by receiving payments from hotel customers directly into her personal Sterling Bank account, contrary to Section 280(1)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

She was also charged of Stealing by Conversion the sum of Five Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N550,000)

She is alleged to have induced the hotel’s receptionist, Aladela Christiana, to receive N550,000 in hotel funds via the receptionist’s personal Opay account, which was then remitted to Bello’s Sterling Bank account, contrary to Section 280(1)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

Count IV Stealing a sum of Thirty Seven Thousand Naira (N37,000)

Bello is alleged to have stolen N37,000 in cash belonging to K & J Hotel and Suites, contrary to Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

Count V Conduct Likely to Cause a Breach of the Peace

She is alleged to have conducted herself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace, contrary to Section 168(d) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

 

The case has been adjourned till 18th of September, 2026 for hearing.
