Over 300 food packs, vitamin supplements donated to pregnant women in Lagos. 

 

Over 300 pregnant women have benefitted from the sharing of foods items, vitamin supplements from the Lagos State Office of Political Legislative and Civil Engagement Lagos Health District IV

The move is ostensibly to provide the pregnant women with the necessary food items to make sure the babies have healthy bones, and nervous system development

Oputeh Michael, Public Affairs Officer of Lagos State Health District IV stated this in a press release on Wednesday.

Pregnant women need more of some vitamins and minerals to make sure the baby has healthy bones, and nervous system development.

 

Eating a healthy, varied diets in pregnancy will help pregnant women get most of the vitamins and minerals they need.

 

Office of Political, Legislative and Civic Engagement, donated three hundred food packs and vitamin supplement to mother, infant and child at the Akerele Primary Healthcare Centre, Surulere.

 

The Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State, on Political Legislative and Civic Engagement, Dr. Afolabi Abiodun Tajudeem, represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Office of Political Legislative and Civic Engagement, Eng. Sholabomi Shasore, noted that the Lagos State Government, recognizes that to build a peaceful progressive, and secure Lagos, there is need to give every child from conception to birth and through adulthood a fair chance to live, grow to become responsible citizens.

Speaking further, she said, responsible citizenship begins from the womb, adding that global studies affirm that the earliest events shaping a person’s life occur from conception to early childhood.

 

The Permanent Secretary, noted that, the mother, infant and child development programme is a bold compassionate initiative conceptualised to boost neonatal brain development, support healthy pregnancies, and assist indigent expectant mothers within Lagos State.

 

Eng. Sholabomi Shasore, quipped that since the inception of the initiative, the programme had reached 6,280, beneficiaries across the six Health Districts in Lagos State.

 

While speaking, the Permanent Secretary Lagos State Health District IV, Dr Abimbola Bowale, said a promise of a healthier start from the newest members of the community is a commitment to the well-being of mothers, who are the backbone of families.

 

Dr. Abimbola Bowale, reiterated that the journey of a pregnancy is a remarkable one.” It is a time of hope, anticipation and boundless love. It is also a time that demands immense strength, resilience, and the very best nourishment for both mother and child, and the journey can also be challenging,” she said
