Guard Time, Rights Groups Applaud Appointment of CSP Hundeyin as Force PRO

By Abraham Joshua,
Guard Time International (GTI), together with a coalition of human rights organizations, has commended the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Benjamin Hundeyin as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
In separate congratulatory messages, the groups described Hundeyin’s elevation as a recognition of merit, professionalism, and his long-standing dedication to bridging the gap between law enforcement and the Nigerian public.
According to GTI, the appointment reflects the Police leadership’s commitment to building a more open, accountable, and citizen-friendly Force. The organization noted that Hundeyin’s track record, especially during his tenure as the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, has shown his ability to manage sensitive issues with tact, transparency, and balance.
Human rights advocates also praised his open-door approach to communication, stressing that his appointment comes at a time when the Police must deepen public trust. They expressed hope that his new role would further entrench respect for human rights, humane policing practices, and stronger engagement with civil society.
The groups called on CSP Hundeyin to continue championing reforms that would improve the Force’s image both locally and internationally, urging him to use his new platform to amplify dialogue, accountability, and trust-building initiatives.
CSP Hundeyin, who brings years of experience in public relations and community engagement, officially assumes the position following his appointment by the Inspector General of Police.
With his new role as the national spokesperson, stakeholders believe he will play a pivotal role in shaping narratives, countering misinformation, and presenting a more credible face of the Nigeria Police Force.
