2023 elections: FG closes land borders nationwide

Barely one day to the Presidential and National Assembly elections in the country, the federal government has directed that all land borders be closed

The closure takes effect from from 00:00 hours on Saturday 25″ February, 2023 to 00:00 hours Sunday, 26″ February, 2023.

In a statement signed by Isah Jere, Comptroller General of Immigration Service, accordingly, all Command Comptrollers especially those in the Border States are to ensure strict enforcement of this directive. , ,

Reason for the closure was not stated in the letter sent to state Comptroller but may not be unconnected to insecurity.

Recall that the FG had earlier placed restrictions on movement of persons and vehicles on the elections day.
