Western port police, Tincan Customs collaborate to tackle port porosity, maritime challenges

The Commissioner of Police, Western Ports Authority Police Command Lagos, CP Olarenwaju Olawale Ishola on Thursday received in audience, the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Tincan Island Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi.

This was disclosed by the command’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), ASP Isaac Hundeyin in a release.

While speaking, the Customs boss stated that the Service is a promoter of trade facilitation which stimulates national economic growth.

Comptroller Nnadi added that the Police were to promote peace and checkmate the activities within the ports while protecting all government agencies carrying out enforcement including Customs and individuals doing legitimate business at the ports.

He reiterated readiness to partner with the Ports Police in addressing ports’ porosity and security, information sharing, and exploring opportunities for enhanced cooperation in tackling maritime-related challenges.

Responding, CP Ishola while welcoming his guest, assured that the command will address the issues of infractions within the ports.

The police helmsman maintained that Customs is a major player at the ports and that the police would continue to play its complementary role to provide maximum security while collaborating with other security agencies.
