Total shut down as NPA senior staff confirm compliance with Monday strike

The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) has confirmed full compliance with the indefinite strike declared by the national body, Trade Union Congress (TUC) billed to commence on Monday, 3rd June, 2024.
The strike action ultimately signifies that port operations will witness a setback culminating into loss.of revenue to the federal government .
Earlier in today, June 1st 2024, leadership of the Maritime Workers Union Union of Nigeria (MWUN) under the leadership of Comrade (Prince) Dr. Adewale Adeyanju obliged to comply with the directive of both the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) to join in the indefinite total lock down of the country commencing from Monday, the 3rd of June, 2024.
The strike is in protest against failed a negotiations between the federal government and the labour unions over new minimum wage for Nigerian workers.
In a statement signed by the acting Secretary General of SSASCGOC, Comrade Michael Idoko, all its affiliates are directed to mobilize members in readiness for the indefinite strike.
“All branches are hereby directed to mobilize its members and embark on indefinite strike effective 00.01 am on Monday 3rd June 2024 until a new minimum wage is negotiated and agreed upon.
“The decision to embark on this indefinite strike action is as result of the lacklustre attitude of the government to the negotiation.
All branches should ensure that this directive is totally complied with”
Confirming the document to our correspondent on Saturday, President of SSASCGOC Maritime Branch, Comrade Akinola Bodunde stated that they were to comply with the directive from the national body.
