The Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) Maritime branch has extended warm May Day greetings to the management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), members of its affiliate Trade Union Congress (TUC), and workers globally.
In a statement on Wednesday, SSASCGOC Maritime President, Comrade Akinola Bodunde, emphasized the importance of strong collaboration between employers and employees, urging NPA management to involve the union in decision-making to enhance workers’ welfare.
Bodunde commended NPA management for its timely interventions in workers’ promotions, noting that the union celebrates Workers’ Day 2025 with enthusiasm and a renewed commitment to staff welfare and excellence.
Reflecting on the 2025 Workers’ Day theme, “Reclaiming the Civic Space in the Midst of Economic Hardship,” Bodunde highlighted the NPA’s dedication to recognizing employees’ contributions to national development and maritime excellence.
He joined the nation and international community in honoring the vital role of workers in economic growth, stressing the importance of workplace safety, health, and improved welfare packages despite current economic challenges.
Bodunde also acknowledged the NPA Managing Director and the Executive Management team’s support for better working conditions, including ongoing efforts to enhance staff welfare through salary increments and the review conditions of service.
He further expressed appreciation for the continuous backing from the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which, alongside NPA management, fosters a culture of innovation, productivity, and inclusivity within the workforce.
