NDLEA visits Snake Island, sensitizes on dangers of drugs.

Then National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has taken the fight against illicit drug to the creeks as the Tincan Island Command of the agency visited Snake Island, a community across the port, recently.
The Tincan Island Area Commander, Commander of Narcotics, CN Aminu Abubakar stated this on the United Nations Drug Awareness Day saying that the command was doing all necessary to educate the command and the community around it of dangers of drug consumption and trafficking.
Abubakar added that the NDLEA management at the command has been interfacing with relevant stakeholders to create awareness and relationship with the people to help in the fight against the scourge.
He said, “Last month, we were at the Snake Island, this is an island completely cut off from the mainland but we have been to those nooks and crannies.
“I doubt if anybody has gone to the place before now to talk about drug abuse and trafficking.
“These are places we realize people are taking advantage of especially drugs coming from Ghana but by sensitizing them, they will be equipped and have a relationship with us so that if they see anything, they will contact us because they already have our contacts
“My message to all traffickers is to keep away from Tincan Island port complex including their cohorts because the synergy we are having with stakeholders, will make it difficult for them to use the facilities within the port to traffic the drugs.”
