NAGAFF dissociates from planned shutdown of Apapa port operations

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has dissociated itself from the joint planned port shutdown by the sone.of the freight forwarding associations.
It was earlier reported that the associations including ANLCA, AREFFN and others had agreed to withdraw their services at the port in view of of the alleged inconsistencies in B’Odogwu platform.
In a statement by NAGAFF, the National President, Hon. Tochukwu Ezisi stated that the association wished to categorically dissociate itself and its members from the planned shutdown of port operations at Apapa Port, reportedly being organized by a coalition of customs license agents and freight forwarding associations.
“Let it be on record that the nomenclature of licensed Customs agents has been repealed by the Nigeria Customs Service Act 202 and replaced with the customs representatives.

“As the umbrella body representing the interests of all freight forward in Nigeria, NAGAFF remains committed to the principles of_constructive engagement, law and professional conduct in addressing industry concerns.
“We view the proposed shut down as not an option but also counter active against the progress collectively seeking the reforms and innovation.
“NAGAFF firmly believes that dialogue, communication, and institutional engagement with most effective tools for solving vanc and advancing the ongoing customs ports and border stations. ,We u e all stakeholders to refrain from actions that could disrupt port Nigeria’s economic interests. undermine the credibility of the freight forwarding profession.
“We reaffirm our dedication to prompting peace, professionalism, in the maritime industry. and we call on all well-meaning practitioners to join us iny!glding ese values.
“Specifically, the chairman of NAGAFF, Apapa and members are hereby advised and encouraged to go about their normal businesses.
“The high command of NAGAFF is in touch with the Comptroller General of Customs, who, as the chairman of the World Customs Organisation WCO is on top of the alleged grievances and their resolution.
“It is our hope and firm belief that the AIG maritime and the Commissioner of police Ports shall ensure peace and order in the Apapa Port for all persons who come to transact business in the Customs ports.”
