MWUN PG, Bunu hosts GMT MD, reiterates importance of workers' welfare.

The President – General of the Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria (MWUN), Comrade Francis Bunu Abi, recently played host to the Managing Director of GMT, Tim Maguire at the Maritime Workers Union Secretariat, Osho Drive, Olodi Apapa, Lagos.
The MD, Maguire, had visited the union eader in order to cement existing relationship between the two organisations as well as to congratulate the PG on his recent election

Showing solidarity to the union leadership, the GMT boss described Comrade Bunu as a refined Labour leader and astute Maritime Expert, whose immense contributions towards the Maritime Sector, even before ascending his new designation cannot be overemphasized.
He further described the PG of the as a complete gentleman with integrity that has been put to test over time; hence, the quest of management of GMT to continue to foster its existing relationship with the Union, believing that GMT and the Union have come a long way and will continue to partner each other for the progress of the sector amongst other reasons he came for the visit and to also bring this message of goodwill to the President-General of the Union.
Responding, the labour leader and astute Sailor pledged mutual.benefits for both parties saying the relationship between the duo would wax stronger
He stressed that government is a continuum, provided that GMT will continue to uphold its workers’ friendly policies which of course, is the bedrock of the Union’s interest at all times in the industry.
Comrade Bunu emphasized that the only way the leadership of the Union could go against any company in the Maritime Sector is when Workers are treated with a “Lepers’ hand, and that’s one of the major reasons, the Union will not be friendly with any company in the industry.
He added that the Union would take any company serious only if and when the interests of workers welfares are not marginalized or short changed; saying that the Union Workers have been trained to give their optimum output each time they’re on duty; hence, the Union would always discipline erring workers anytime they are found wanting.
