Maritime police command gets new boss as AIG Olofu Adetutu Rhoda assumes office

A new Assistant Inspector-General of Police, AIG Olofu Adetutu Rhoda has assumed duty at the Maritime Police Command, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos as the 20th Assistant Inspector-General of Police and the third female to head the Command.

In a statement by ASP Ehinmode, A. Rowland, acting Police Public Relations Officer of the command in behalf of the AIG, the police boss hails from Obehira in Okene Local Government Area of Kogi State. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science from the University of Ilorin.

She was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) on 3rd March, 1990 and trained at the prestigious Police Academy Kaduna.

The AIG has served the Nigeria Police Force in different capacities, covering virtually all the Departments of the Force, including Staff Officer Welfare, A’ Department; AC Establishment, Force Secretary Office; DC investment, Department of Logistics and Supply; DC Administration, Department of Training and Development; DC Research and Development; CP Servicom, Department of Research and Planning; CP X-Squad, FCID and CP Ports Authority Police, Western Ports Command, Apapa, Lagos, the position she held until her elevation to the enviable and exalted rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and her subsequent posting to the Maritime Police Command.

This seasoned and professional Police Officer is a member of the International Association of Women Police (IAWP), International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), and the prestigious IBB International Golf and Country Club Abuja.

The credibility, competence and professionalism of the AIG has endeared her to the public. In the course of her policing work, the AIG has attended both professional, administrative and operational courses both home and abroad. She is happily married to AIG Tony Adejoh Olofu RTD and the marriage is blessed with children.

The AIG while soliciting for the support, cooperation/collaboration and seamless working relationship between the Maritime Police Command and the Maritime stakeholders, promised an open-door policy, synergy among the security agencies, people-friendly policing, accelerated investigation and prosecution of Maritime cases, fight against crimes and criminalities, and all forms of vices especially on our inland and navigable waterways, ports, harbour and the coastal environment.
