NLC nominates MWUN 's Funmi, Martina as Returning Officers in Enugu, Ekiti women committee elections
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has nominated Comrade Funmi Fasan, a Deputy President General and Comrade Martina Njoku, a Vice President General of the Maritime Workers’ Union of Nigeria MWUN to supervise Enugu and Ekiti states respectively in the NLC State Women Committee election slated for 13th August, 2025.
In a memo signed by Comrade Benson Upah, Acting General Secretary of the Congress, the duo are expected to ensure a hitch -Free election in their respective areas of supervision
The elections which hold across the thirty six states of the country on the same day, has other female union leaders as the supervisors.
Text of the memo, “The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) State Women Committee election has been scheduled to hold on Wednesday. August 13, 2025.
“You have been nominated to kindly represent! Congress as an Electoral/ Returning officer to conduct the State Women Committee Election.
“You are expected to liaise with the Chairperson of the NLC State Women Committee to ensure a hitch free election.
Explaining the details of their roles, the memo stated that “Please note that your responsibilities include: Collection of filled nomination forms and screening of all candidates/ contestants to ensure that they meet the requirements in the Guidelines and Eligibility; Conduct accreditation of delegates based on the delegates list with allocation to the various unions.
“Filling in of the scores and announcement of the result immediately after the election; submission of the report including the result and nomination forms to the NLC National Secretariat, Abuja; Presentation of the goodwill message from the Congress.
“You are expected to arrive on August 12, 2025 to conduct the election on the 13th and deport on 14th August, 2025. Congress wil take care of your transport, accommodation and feeding.
“Please. remember to send in a brief report with the results of the election latest by 25″ August 2025 with the names of contestants. positions, scores ond remarks in the attached form.”
