Indonesia workers sacked during covid pandemic receive full compensation

The International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) celebrates as it says it secured some important wins that will improve thousands of workers’ lives last week.
On its Facebook page, the union boasted that it’s power comes from the collective voice of its affiliated with over 18.5 million members worldwide.
The union said that the Turkey DHL logistics workers in Tümtis unions secured wage increases of 73-85%, 100% increase in social security benefits, an increase in annual leave and holiday allowances, increased meal allowances and overtime payments
In USA, International Longshoremen’s Association won their fight to protect their work jurisdiction at Ørsted’s offshore wind operations at the Port of New London, Connecticut.
Following years of campaigning by Transport Workers Union (TWU), the Australian Senate passed world-leading legislation that enforces minimum standards for gig economy and road transport workers. According to the union, the legislation provides the template for similar campaigning worldwide.
In Indonesia, members of Gebuk, a union of outsourced airline catering workers at Jakarta airport who were sacked overnight when the Covid pandemic started, this week, after tireless campaigning from Gebuk and Fspbi_Indonesia, it was announced that all that sacked workers will receive full compensation.
“These are just some of our key wins in one week. Remember, there is power in a union,” the union says.
