The Otun-Asiwaju Onigbagbo of Remoland, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking, joined Christian leaders, dignitaries, and well-wishers to celebrate Nigeria’s former President and elder statesman, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Ph.D, GCFR, on his 88th birthday with a special Global Breakfast Prayer Session.

The 61st edition of the prayer breakfast, held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, was a spiritually uplifting gathering attended by representatives from 29 countries, both physically and virtually. The session, facilitated by Bishop T. Akin-Akinsanya, Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), South-West Zone, and moderated by Rev. Engr. A. Ojeshina, featured powerful intercessions, scriptural reflections, and worship sessions led by esteemed clerics and the Gatekeepers Worship team.

Christian ministers from across the world paid glowing tributes to Chief Obasanjo, acknowledging his contributions to diplomacy, African development, and visionary leadership. Notable among them were Ven. O. Ogunremi (Kenya), Pastor M. Nwanegbo (Belgium), Bishop F. Wale Oke (Nigeria), Bishop E. Adekunle (Nigeria), Rev. Mother E. Ajayi (Nigeria), Apostle M. Oluwajoba (USA), Dr. Juliet Hammond (UK), and Bishop David Bakare (Nigeria).

In his goodwill message, Aare Adetola Emmanuelking reflected on his first spiritual encounter with Chief Obasanjo in the 1990s, when the former president authored a powerful prayer compendium. The book, he said, became a source of strength for him during a trying period, reinforcing his faith and resilience.

“Baba’s resilience, strength, and commitment to service continue to inspire us all. Even at 88, he remains more energetic than many younger than him. His life teaches us that longevity is sustained by purpose—constantly working, planning, and striving for a better tomorrow,” Aare Emmanuelking stated.

He further declared that Chief Obasanjo is divinely destined to live up to 120 years and urged him to gift the world 32 more editions of his impactful spiritual compendium.

Aare Emmanuelking praised Chief Obasanjo’s remarkable journey—from serving as Nigeria’s military Head of State, who transitioned power to a civilian government in 1979, to returning as a democratically elected President in 1999. He lauded his unwavering contributions to nation-building, African leadership, and global diplomacy.

“At 88, Baba continues to make waves, inspiring the nation and serving as a voice for Africa. As a true son of the soil, may God continue to bless him with wisdom, strength, and good health. May he live long to witness the continued growth and prosperity of Nigeria and Africa,” he concluded.

The Prayer Breakfast served as a moment of deep spiritual reflection, thanksgiving, and intercession, acknowledging Chief Obasanjo’s transformative leadership and divine grace. The celebration ended with a special toast and reaffirmation of prayers for his continued health, wisdom, and impact as a statesman and global leader.
