In a low key but historic award presentation ceremony, the renowned and people’s delight Maj. Gen. Raymond Nani Ochei has received his plaque of honour, conferring on him the Anioma Man of the Year 2024 by the prestigious Anioma Trust Newspapers.

The award plaque was presented to him by the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the Newspaper, Comrade (Deacon) Patrick Ochei in a brief event witnessed by some Anioma Queen Mothers (Omus) at the country home of the General in Onicha-Olona community of Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.

In his short and concise speech, Comrade Patrick Ochei eulogized the Army General for his humility and extension of brotherly love to the majority of Anioma people; maintaining that the award was in recognition of his above and beyond commitments and contributions towards community and human development in Anioma Nation, involvement in Anioma cultural renaissance and general philanthropy.

Ochei affirmed that as usual, the process of selecting the Anioma Man of the Year was made credible by allowing a select Panel to choose an Awardee from the list of nominees handed to them.

By that selection which was published in the Anioma Trust Late December 2024/Early January 2025 Edition, Maj. Gen. Ochei has eventually made the compendium of Anioma Man of the Year awardees, ranging from Arc. Kester Ifeadi, President of OFAAC and CEO of Contemporary Group Limited, Chief Awele Nwabuokei, former President of Ogwashi-Uku Cultural Organisation and former Director of Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) and of course, HRM Obi Martha Dunkwu, Omu Okpanam/Omu Anioma/Nneoha, and now Maj. Gen. Ochei after a long period of interregnum.

However, the overwhelmingly elated Maj. Gen. Ochei had profoundly commended Anioma Trust Newspapers for finding him worthy to be named Anioma Personality of the Year (2024).

He therefore, appreciated the Anioma people for voting for him in that selection process, thereby assuring to remain loyal to the abiding love that exists amongst Anioma people. Additionally, he pledged to continue to do his best to uphold the sanctity of Anioma culture and values, as well as helping where help is needed.
