NAGAFF chairman knocks Tanko over picketing of Clarion bonded terminal

The Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) chapter of the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) has knocked the compliance team of the association for continuous picketing of Clarion Bonded Terminal
In a release, the chapter chairman, Engr. Emmanuel Umeadi who condemned the action, added that it amounted to usurpation of power as the National President of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Esizi and NAGAFF high command
Engr. Umeadi was enraged for not being consulted before such action is taken knowing that Clarion bonded terminal is under his jurisdiction.
Text if the release, “This is to inform the general public that the continuous picketing of Clarion Bonded Terminal by NAGAFF 100% Compliance Team  led by Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, is being done in bad fate.
“The allegation against the operators of the Bonded Terminal is likened to “giving a dog a bad name in order to hang it”.
“The KLT Chapter of NAGAFF wish to disabuse the minds of the freight forwarding community of this image tarnishing allegation, which in the actual sense, has no modicum of truth attached to it.
“Engr. Emmanuel  Umeadi, KLT Chapter Chairman of National Association of Government Approved Forwarders (NAGAFF), whose oversight function is extended to Clarion, has unequivocally condemned the picketing of Clarion Bonded Terminal by 100% Compliance Team without seeking his opinion, not only that, the whole exercise is roundly seen as an usurpation of power as the National President of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Esisi and the NAGAFF high Command are likely not in the know of this unwarranted act of recklessness.
“However, the claim that 19 containers are missing from the terminal is nothing but mere subterfuge, as there is no atom of truth in the claim.
“Nevertheless, those insinuating that the purported missing containers might have been used to smuggle in arms and ammunition are mischief makers whose stock in trade is to blackmail people and create confusion.
“Meanwhile, the management of Clarion Bonded Terminal, have never declined any call for peaceful dialogue. Besides, for the Team to picket the terminal, denying people access to it does not only amount to economic sabotage, it  also translates to unnecessary huge financial burden on those who are trying to take delivery of their consignments at the terminal.
“If at all the Coordinator of 100% compliance team is acting in good fate, he should have embraced dialogue than escalating a matter that is not backed up with documented evidences.
“Meanwhile, since this matter was brought to public knowledge, no importer has come up with claim of the purportedly missing 19 containers. We advise the team leader to stop chasing shadow, he should call for dialogue because to the best our knowledge, the management of Clarion Bonded Terminal are also Nigerians who would not like fellow citizens to lose their investment . The Head of NAGAFF 100% Compliance Team should jettison actions that could result in avoidable crises and unnecessary loss of investment.
“Again, the 100 Percent Compliance Team must be called to order, the best way to resolve the matter is through dialogue.”
