CILT Nigeria seeks more participants from railway sector as it organises Master Class for Chief Executives

The Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) on Tuesday, invited the management of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) to upgrade their managerial skills through the newly introduced Maters Class Executive Programme slated to commence soon.

The National President, CILT Nigeria Barrister Ufom Usoro made the call at the maiden workshop organised by the Railway Mode of the institute in Lagos.

The legal luminary while speaking, maintained that more attention would be given to the railway mode in the incoming year, 2025.

She therefore appealed to the Managing Director of NRC, Fider Okhiria to sponsor tip management staff to the various capacity building programs

According to her, the programs were organized by both local and international arms of the Institute basically for manpower development for managers.

She added that staff of NRC should take advantage of the Master Class programs for Chief Executives and Directors from both private and public organizations.

She added further that the aim of CILT is to equip managers with knowledge for efficient service delivery on transport related courses for members and heads of departments and agencies

While appreciating the Managing Director of NRC for his reforms in the sector, she quipped that the MD is open to embracing innovation which according to her, is the reason the sector is still intact and also yielded positive results.

The CILT President called on the Managing Director of NRC to continue the good work at the corporation adding that more investment is needed to provide services for the masses.

She charged members and employees from the transport sector to invest more on self development as it will help to improve skills and advance knowledge about the industry.

In his speech, the Managing Director, NRC, Fider Okhiria said rail mode of transportation was an enabler to nation building.

He therefore promised to support members of CILT under the railway mode as part of measures to encouraging adequate participation of staff.

In his welcome address, the Rail Mode Nodal Officer of CILT Nigeria, Akinola Dauda Olabayo said the Workshop was meant to highlight the critical roles of rail in trade facilitation, economic growth and sustainable development.

Mr. Olabayo who said that the workshop was the first of its kind, added that it was a significant milestone in the history of the Corporation.
