The Senator representing Lagos Central Senatorial District, Senator Wasiu Eshinlokun Sanni in Tuesday, 26th August, 2025 donated exercise books to 95 public secondary schools
The notebook distribution described as unprecedented since the return of democracy to Nigeria since 1999, was made at the 8th Town hall meeting of the district
This year’s edition comes with the theme: Smart District, Strong Communities: Building A Better Future.”
The exercise books distribution covered all public secondary schools in Districts 3 and 4.
Each student from both junior and secondary cadres within the districts had a share of six pieces of 60-leaves notebooks.
Speaking during the exercise, Senator Sanni maintained that he was committed to fulfilling his campaign promises using the Townhall meeting platform.
He emphasised his desire to make a positive difference in the lives of the constituents especially the children.
Eshilokun, who is also the Chairman, Senate Committee on Marine Transport, stated that providing free exercise books to students of public schools is not just a gift, but a declaration that every child, regardless of background, deserves the tools to learn, dream, and succeed.
His words, “This is an assurance that my promise during my campaign is my bond with you. As the clock ticks, so does my desire to make a difference in the lives of my people, and this I have adhered to. This informs my constant and consistent engagement with my constituents and critical stakeholders.”
”As part of this Town Hall Meeting, I am proud to announce the distribution of six (6) free exercise books to every student in public secondary schools across Lagos Central Senatorial District. This initiative is not only symbolic but strategic. It is a deliberate step toward reducing the financial burden on families, encouraging academic engagement, and affirming our belief that no child should be left behind because of lack of basic learning materials
“To our students: Do not see these books as mere pages. Rather, you should see them as tools for the actualisation of your ideas, your dreams, and your future. Please use them to advance your knowledge, creativity, and ambition. Lagos Central is rooting for you. On my part, I shall continue to support you towards creating an enlightened and productive human capital for the development of our country.
“At this juncture, may I inform you all that I have invested a lot in promoting education in this district. I have consistently given free GCE and JAMB forms to our wards in SSS 3, distributed over 6000 school bags and donated chairs and tables for teachers’ use.
“I equally give annual scholarship to students of tertiary institutions from the district. Of course, I hope some of the beneficiaries today will work towards getting this scholarship in the near future.
The Senator also disclosed that in 2025, as part of his ongoing educational support program, he donated office chairs and tables to Badore Community Secondary School through a collaborative effort with the Rotary Club of Ajah Golden.
He explained that a total of 26 constituency projects are planned for implementation in 2025, including ICT development, provision of school furniture, construction and installation of PABX Public Address Systems, solar street lights, road construction and rehabilitation, provision of transformers, construction of community and district offices, among others.
