The Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Tuesday, apprehended two suspects, Susan Oyewole Oyenike, female, 40 and Anafi Isiaka, male, 43 for allegedly printing fake expiry dates on expired Vita Energy Drinks products and selling same to the unsuspecting consumers

The operatives of the command also foiled attempted kidnap of school children returning from school on Thursday, 11th January 2024 by another criminal element.

This is contained in a press release made available to the public by CSC Shola Ayoola, Public Relations Officer, Kwara NSCDC command.

Commandant Umar Mohammed while briefing the media on the development, stated that the suspects were arrested by the Anti-vandal Unit of the command at Amilegbe Area beside Ipata Market in Ilorin around 1400hrs, following an intelligence tip-off.

On interrogation, Anafi confessed that he started the illicit business with Mrs Susan who is the business owner since 2023 when she contacted him to work for her with the promise of a handsome reward.

He revealed that they were actually into the business of printing fake expiry dates on Vita Milk Energy products

Further investigation revealed that the duo have been into the business for an unspecified long period of time.

According to Susan, she purchases the expired products from Mr. Michael Arinze in Lagos, then takes them to Mr. Anafi for rebranding and changing the expiry date.

In another development, the Kwara State NSCDC boss, Commandant Umar Mohammed also.paraded the suspect who attempted to kidnap school children on their way back from school

The suspect, 37 years old Yusuf Ajala (Male), was apprehended on Thursday, 11th January 2024, at Isale Asa Opomalu around 13:00hrs.

According to the release, the suspect was said to have confessed during interrogation that he saw the victims on their way back from school and asked them to help him get dry fish.

After thorough investigation, it was discovered that the suspect forcibly changed the direction of the children from their normal route home in an attempt to kidnap them.

Speaking further, Commandant Mohammed advised the public to be cautious about the products they consume, emphasizing the health risks posed by expired goods.

He reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties by cracking down on criminals and criminal activities.

He added that the suspects would be charged to a court of competent jurisdiction even as he maintained that they would be diligently prosecuted.
