In a frantic effort to promote local content, Save Nigeria Freight Forwarders, Importers, Exporters Coalition (SNFFIEC) on Tuesday, defied the heavy downpour in Lagos to embark on a campaign in support for Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited.
The campaign which is aimed at securing more patronage for the liner, included members of Save Nigeria as well as executives of the shipping magnate.
Addressing journalists shortly after the roadshow, the National Coordinator of SNFFIEC, Sir Osita Chukwu Patrick called on the maritime community to patronize and support the indigenous shipping line.
According to him, Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited has the capacity to bridge the gap in the logistics supply chain service even as he called on Nigerians to take the existing advantages of the numerous benefits offered by the liner.
Osita reiterated that the indigenous liner have the capacity to promote the import and export of Nigerian cargoes, stating that MV Ocean Dragon will continue to be the pride of Nigeria in cargo lifting.
He noted that SNFFIEC will support indigenous liners, adding that the benefits of the containerized vessel are numerous.
He said demurrage charges have been eliminated, calling on the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to rally support for Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited.
Speaking on behalf of management, Solomon Ogudo, Regional Manager, Clarion Shipping West Africa Limited, said the awareness campaign focused on incentives offered by the liner.
He said the benefits include incentives of $500 and $300 on forty and twenty-foot containers respectively, noting that the liner is poised to facilitate regional trade within West Africa.
The awareness campaign reached some major institutions within the port community, including the Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, NIMASA, SON, and others.
