CILT Nigeria Conference: Keyamo, Obaseki, Kema Chikwe, other dignitaries confirmed for attendance.

...Usoro says young persons now take key roles, occupy leadership positions.

The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, former Minister of transport and aviation, Dr Mrs Kema Chikwe among others have been confirmed to attend the Charted Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) 2023 National Conference and Annual General Meeting.

The Conference which is slated for 27 and 28 of November, 2023 at the prestigious Continental Hotel in Lagos, would be declared open by the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN.

The event would also witness unveiling of CILT book launch withe the title: ‘Perspectives on Sustainable Innovation in Global Logistics and Transport’ by Edo State Executive Governor, Godwin Obaseki.

Other notable guests expected at the event include; Chief Teete Owusu-Nortey, a former Minister of Aviation and Transport, Dr. (Mrs) Kema Chikwe, among others.

President of CILT Nigeria, Barr. Mfon Usoro informed that the Institute had metamorphosed from elderly to the young ones

She stated that the young ones are taking up key roles and leadership positions.

While appreciating the committee members for the reforms in the Institute, she called on prospective participants should register ahead of the event for seamless organisation of the event.

She promised that the event would address a lot of the problems associated with the sector.

Speaking at a pre-conference webinar, Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), Professor Kayode Oyesiku who said the theme of the conference is “Designing the Future of Transportation and Logistics in Africa,” said the choice of Lagos as the venue is as a result of the successes recorded in the previous conference.

He maintained that the diversified multi modal transportation system of the state, makes towers it above others.

Dr. Ugo Ugboma, Keynote speaker for the conference and subcommittee chairman while lauding the progress made by the Institute so far, quipped that the committee had gone lengths to get experts in various fields of endeavour to look at the discussion at different areas at the event.

According to her, some of the topics that would form the basis of discussion at the event include; Cross Border Trade and Regional Integration, the session which would be chaired by Prof. Jonathan Aremu, an ECOWAS regional expert on trade.
Other areas are: Infrastructure Development and Management among others.

According to Dr Ugboma, participants at the 2-day conference would go on a tour of the Lagos waterways, as well as a ride on the Lagos Light railway from Marina to Mile 2. The conference would also witness a Gala night and display of rich African cultures.

Dr Ugboma said the Annual General Meeting would be used to Inaugurate the newly elected executives of CILT Nigeria in the recently conducted electronic elections, which Barr Mrs Mfon Ekong Usoro was re-elected as President.

Also speaking during the Webinar, Prof Geraldine Okeudo said 15 papers altogether would be presented at the conference. Some of the presentations according to her, is coming from England, South Africa, Kenya among others.

Speaking on the CILT book launch, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Ambi, CILT Chairman Lagos State who is chairring the Publicity Committee, said the book lunch titled; “Perspective on Sustainable Innovation in Global Logistics and Transportation.” was edited by Prof Kayode Oyesiku, and scheduled for 27th November, 2023 at the venue of the conference.

On the proposed tour for participants, Alhaji Ambi said “The committee has been disseminating information for the Conference participants to register for the tour.

“The tour is tagged: ‘Experience a Refreshing Inland Water Ways Boat of Lagos Lagoon,” scheduled for 28 November,2023.
