In a landmark move, the Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi, has ordered the release of 95 inmates from various prisons in the state.
The inmates, who were imprisoned for various offenses, were freed due to the Chief Judge’s discovery of irregularities and miscarriages of justice in their cases.
According to Justice Danladi, many of the inmates had been detained for extended periods without trial, which he described as a clear violation of their fundamental human rights.
The Chief Judge’s decision to free the inmates has been hailed as a major breakthrough in the administration of justice in Katsina State. It is expected to ease congestion in the prisons and restore hope to those who had lost faith in the justice system.
The development has also highlighted the need for prison reform and the importance of ensuring that the rights of inmates are protected. It is hoped that the Chief Judge’s initiative will inspire other states to follow suit and address the lingering issues in their prison systems.
