Capacity building: Western Ports Police POWA Chief empowers police officers' wives, donates items for wealth creation

The Chairperson of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Ports Authority Police (Western) Command, Apapa, Lagos, Mrs Abiola Ishola, on Thursday, empowered wives of Police officers of the command with skill acquisition equipments
This aligns with the vision of the POWA President, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun to ensure that all police officers’ wives develop entrepreneurial skills that will be useful to them and their immediate families.

Riding in the goodwill of the President, Mrs Ishola empowered wives of.police officers attached to the command with different types of equipment and gadgets.
Speaking, Mrs Abiola Ishola noted that upon her husband’s assumption of office, the POWA secretariat at the Ports Authority Police (Western) Command was inaugurated in November, 2023.
She noted further that it was no longer fashionable for wives of police officers to sit down at home as full housewives without having a skill that will help them earn a living, hence the need for this empowerment scheme under the directive and approval of the POWA President.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) Ishola appreciated all wives of Police Officers for their unwavering support to their husbands while noting that such support is important to encourage police officers to legitimately discharge their duties
He also thanked the wife of the Inspector-General of Police for conceiving and executing the idea of empowering wives of Police Officers.
The Special Guest of Honour, wife of the Inspector General Of Police, Dr. Mrs. Elizabeth Egbetokun, POWA President who flagged off the event, was represented by the Zone 2, Police Command POWA chairperson, Mrs. Gloria Durosimi;
Also in attendance were the Lagos State Police Command POWA chairperson, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade, POWA members, the chief host, Mrs. Abiola Ishola, the Commissioner of Police, Ports Authority Police (Western), Command CP Olanrewaju Olawale Ishola and his management team.
High points of the program was cultural displays from various ethnic groups to entertain guests and a short talk on the effects of drug abuse anchored by Chief Superintendent of Narcotics, Bola Ojele of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Equipments such as grinding machines, hair driers, sewing machines, and deep freezers were distributed to POWA members, which was duly commended in a vote of thanks from the Lagos State Police Command POWA Chairperson, Mrs. Adekemi Fayoade.
