The Maritime Branch under the aegis of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government Owned Companies (SSASCGOC), Maritime Branch has expressed optimism over improved welfare package for members.

I’m a May Day message to workers, President of SSASCGOC Maritime, Comrade Akinola Bodunde gave the assurance as part of the May 1st Workers Day celebration.

According to him, this year’s Workers Day celebration theme: “People First,” resonates profoundly the core values and principles that guide the union.

Bodunde pointed out that the celebration underscores the imperative of prioritizing the welfare and well-being of the members and Nigerian workers in all aspects of endeavours.

Sequel to the new minimum wage, the SSASCGOC Maritime boss stated that the union would continue to work for the improvement of workers’ welfare in the ports industry, urging the federal government not to disappoint members and Nigerian workers in particular.

The President further commended management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) for the smooth working relations with staff, urging the authority to ensure friendly working environment with the union.

He further lauded the management of Lekki Port and PTML for their commitment to welfare matters of members.

“As we celebrate another workers’ day, which comes up every May 1, we will like to appreciate our members for their perseverance, resilience, cooperation and dedication in their respective workplaces.

“We are aware of the situation in the country under the current leadership but be rest assured that we will definitely come out of the woods very soon.

“in line with our welfare packages and other entitlement we are optimistic that things will change for the better.

“We are calling on our members to believe in a greater Nigeria, he appealed.

The union boss also felicitated workers worldwide on the all important celebration.
