In the spirit of touching lives and helping those in need, Eze Ambassador Chika .C. Nwokedi, Chairman Council of Ndieze, Igbo Speaking Community, Lagos State has reiterated his commitment to assisting the downtrodden, less privilege, widows and widowers in Ijegun/ljedodo community and its environs, as no fewer than 170 widows and widowers benefited in this year edition of touching lives .
The event which took place at the palace of the Eze Ndigbo of Ijegun/Ijedodo witnessed a large turnout of widows and widowers from different part of Lagos collecting food items, wrappers and cash, as Eze Nwokedi who had been consistently in taking care of people rolls out cash and life essentials to the people in his palace.
Eze Ambassador Nwokedi who is the Founder of Igbo Buru Otu Association Lagos, stated that giving to the less privilege, the downtrodden, those who many have written off, widows and widowers has been his hobby and will continue to remain part of him.
He went further to appreciate God almighty for the gift of life over his family,members of his cabinet and community, noting that the passion to give to the less privilege, widows and widowers, started years back and today he is happy that many families has been touched through his yearly empowerment.
“I want to express my gratitude to God almighty for his mercies, love, protection over my life and also giving me the grace to continue achieving my yearly gift to the less privilege and widows. Last year was 70 widows but this year, l decided to increase it to 170 so as to accommodate, not only the widows and widowers but also those that struggling to feed and by the grace of God l am going to double come 2024.
“This is why l have so many critics, fighting me so hard because they cannot do half of what l am doing,l have started assisting people even before l became an Eze so it is part of me, l am so happy and it pleases my heart each time l assist an individual, l want to appeal to all those fighting me to stop, rather they should join me in alleviating the sufferings of the less privileged in their locality. I promised to continue this quarterly distribution of palliatives and gift items to the people.” He submitted.
Eze Okpoko 1 of Okpoko Community calls for love, peace and unity among the lgbo speaking community, noting that for them to succeed in Lagos state,they need to live in harmony with the indigenes of the land.
Some of the beneficiaries Mrs Folaremi Tijani, Oluwakemi Adekeye,Nkechi Ngamumedum who are from the lgbo and yoruba speaking community showered prayers upon the life of Eze Ambassador C C.Nwokedi and his wife for remembering the needy, widows and widowers every year, stating that Eze Nwokedi is a man who never discriminate if you are a Christian/Muslim, lgbo or yoruba, rather he will treat you all as equal.
While praying for God almighty to keep him and his family, urged the government, political holders to always remember the less privilege, downtrodden, widows and widowers in their locality.
A couple, Mr and Mrs Uwaoma Odili who gave birth to quadruplet 6 months ago received a 50kg bag of rice,cash award and some other gift items.
Highlight of the event was presentation of food items, wrappers and cash gifts to the widows, widowers and less privilege at the event,as members of the press present were not left out from the palliatives.
