The organisers of Nigeria’s premier maritime advocacy beauty pageant, Face Of Maritime International (FOMI), have announced the theme for its 11th season, codenamed, “THE BLUE QUEEN: Beauty With A Purpose”, with the tagline “From Crown To Coastline — Beauty That Saves Our Seas.”

The announcement was made on Friday by the Organiser, Girls Go-To-Sea Campaign Initiative, a Non-Governmental Organisation committed to inspiring girls for maritime greatness and driving women’s participation in the Blue Economy.

FOMI, which was established in 2016, has for 10 consecutive seasons groomed young Nigerian women as ambassadors for maritime awareness, seafarers’ welfare, port development and coastal community development. Season 11 marks 11 years of impact.

Speaking on the new theme, the Executive Director, FOMI Season 11 Organising Committee, Mr Sylva Obasi said The Blue Queen edition will redefine beauty as a force for ocean sustainability, clean oceans advocacy and women’s leadership in Nigeria’s emerging Blue Economy.

“Beyond beauty, FOMI Season 11 will crown a Queen who is not just beautiful but purposeful — an Ocean Advocate who will lead campaigns for clean oceans, anti-plastic pollution, coastal tourism and increased participation of women in maritime, fisheries and aquaculture,” Obasi said.
