International Association inducts Lekki, Tincan Island Ports Managers, SSASCGOC Maritime president as peace ambassadors
The President of the Senior Staff Association of Statutory Corporations and Government-Owned Companies (SSASCGOC) Maritime Branch, Comrade Akinola Bodunde, Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) Port Managers at Lekki and Tin Can Island Port Complex, Messrs Anda Emmanuel and Isa Abubakar have been inducted as peace ambassadors by the International Association of World Peace Advocates.
The trio who were conferred with the title in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, are now to be recognized as International Eminent Peace Ambassadors
Described by the association as promoters of “peace, unity, and development,” in their various communities and the country at large, the honourees were recognised as ambassadors committed to ensuring peace and other humanitarian services to people within their areas of jurisdiction as well as within the port community.

According to the association, the Nigerian chapter will join other chapters worldwide to commemorate International Peace Advocates Day each year on 25 September, marking a celebration of world peace and non‑violence and supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and UNESCO’s Culture of Peace project.
Speaking, Ambassador Dr. Jerry Abiri, Nominee Superintendent of the Association of World Peace Advocates, he explained that there were three fundamental objectives and strategies for peacemaking.
Dr. Abiri said that conflict usually arises when stakeholders feel aggrieved, noting that the three nominees were certified peacemakers whose impacts have been felt across their areas of jurisdiction.
He added that their contributions have promoted the goals of SDG which in turns qualified them for the nomination and induction.
He maintained that their new status would enable them carry out their humanitarian agenda on a global platform even as will afford them the opportunity to participate in United Nations conventions.
