Baring any last minute change, the National Single Window (NSW) will be launched on the 27th of March, 2026.

 

The Director, NSW, Tola Fakolade stated this at a briefing organised for maritime journalists at the Nigeria Revenue Service office in Ikoyi, Lagos on Monday

 

National Single Window is the implementation of the federal government’s digital initiative, which aims to streamline trade, reduce costs scheduled for its first phase rollout in March 2026.

 

Key details about the project is to centralize trade processes for importers and exporters, reducing delays to 24-48 hours from 12 days.

 

Launch Phase: The first phase is scheduled for launch in March 2026.

 

The project operates in close collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service, with Mr. Fakolade actively engaging stakeholders to facilitate the transition.

 

The Steering Committee has been actively providing updates on the project’s milestones, including the commencement of the platform’s customization in 2025.

 

In his opening remark, Fakolade maintained that the team is working with key stakeholders saying the team is laying the right foundation for the full benefits of the system.

In his presentation, he said that the window would increase transparency, revenue generation, simplify trade process as well as to avoid huge demurrage payment by importers

 

He added that the window would reduce physical examination from 90 percent to ten percent, change export average time from eleven days to one day even as he promised that the system would help make cost of clearing competitive with neighbouring West African countries

 

Explaining, he said that the platform would be for all exporters, importers and their agents

 

He maintained that all documents would be submitted only once as bottlenecks would be eliminated as well as eliminating duplicate data

 

Fakokade further explained that the system would automate manual and semi manual processes through creating a process for electronic submission of all documents.

 

Answering questions in the possible technical hitches, he posted that the team has put all things in place to ensure all loopholes are blocked

 

He also quipped that backup internet supply would be available to avoid any glitch.

 

On Infrastructure, he stated that efforts were ongoing to engage the relevant ministries and agencies to make adequate provisions for infrastructure for efficient delivery of the system
