The President, Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Nigeria, Barr. Mfon Usoro on Wednesday, announced the giant strides the Institute had undertaken in the past four years while she held sway as the helmsman of the international professional body.

 

Speaking at the 2025  Conference and Annual General Meeting of the group, the former NIMASA boss explained the digital, financial transformation of the organisation

 

According to her, the institute’s revenue increased by sevenfold to a whooping N223 million in 2025  representing 243 percent growth.

 

Usoro who is also a former Secretary General Abuja MoU, emphasised that accountability and reforms helped it to achieve the monumental feat.

 

The erudite lawyer added that the membership had also increased significantly between 2021 and 2025 to a cumulative 624 new registration as at September this year.

 

She enthused that CILT is now active in 13 states across Nigeria.

 

Her words, “CILT Nigeria, a branch of the world’s leading logistics and transport professional body founded in 1919, now has a growing footprint in 13 Nigerian states.

 

“Since the current administration began in late 2021, membership has surged notably—from 169 new members in 2021 to a cumulative 624 new registrations as of September 2025.”

Speaking further, she submitted that the ingredients for the growth of the institute was anchored on strengthening partnership with stakeholders.

 

She stated that such stakeholders in life; Maritime Academy of Nigeria (MAN), Oron, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPE), Nigeria Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM) as well as other relevant agencies

 

These collaborations, according to her, help to align professional training with industry and military standards, enhancing career pathways for logistics and transport professionals nationwide.

 

“The Institute’s growth is backed by strengthened partnerships with key stakeholders, including the Maritime Academy of Nigeria, Bureau of Public Procurement (BPP), Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management (NACOLM), and various academic institutions.

 

“These collaborations promote professional development, dual certifications, and sector-specific training, enhancing the profile of CILT-qualified professionals nationwide.

 

She lamented that the certifications for the institute are not from Nigeria but from international therefore calling in Nigeria government to note the anomaly and take steps to domesticate the certification.

 

“The certifications of cilt are from the international and not from Nigeria CILT.”

 

Usoro expressed gratitude to the dedicated team and members driving the Institute’s transformation and growth, underscoring a bright future ahead for CILT Nigeria.

Usoro emphasized the success of digital transformation efforts, improved financial management, and governance reforms under her leadership. Revenue grew over 242% from 2021 to 2025, while liquid assets increased sevenfold to N123 million, reflecting enhanced accountability and transparency.

 

Usoro thanked team members and stakeholders for their dedication and commitment to the Institute’s vision of reform and transformation, underscoring CILT Nigeria’s vital role in supporting the country’s logistics and transport sectors.

 

The conference agenda underlined CILT Nigeria’s commitment to shaping national policies in logistics, supply chain, transport, and the Blue Economy, featuring presentations from industry leaders and academic researchers.

 

The conference had in top players from the transport, logistics military, maritime professionals in attendance

 

Highpoint of the event was the award presentation to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) , General Christopher Musa and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Adegboyega Oyetola among many other awardees.
